Six display boards with information text and illustrations accompany the exhibition, as well as a colour and black and white illustrated catalogue. Oh we do like to be beside the seaside! Everybody loves a day at the seaside, the fresh sea breeze, the sand between your toes and the joy of children’s laughter as they lap the waves or build castles on the beach. This year Prestwick would like to invite you to join with them and take a very special trip 'doon the water' to celebrate the best of the last 100 years of Prestwick promenade and seafront. This special centenary year will be marked with a unique nostalgic event that aims to recreate the magic of those glorious seaside days. The event takes place on Saturday 26th June with the fun programme running from 9.30am through to 6pm. Some supplementary events will also run in Prestwick throughout the week. So make sure you come along to Prestwick Prom to laugh with the clowns, join the sandcastle building competition, test your skills in the family races, try your hand at the laser shooting gallery, see the model boats, watch the sailing regatta in the bay or even just relax as the brass band plays tiddely-om-pom-pom! All of this plus kite flying, stalls, solar challenge, award winning ice-cream, music, displays, entertainers and much, much more. The centenary celebrations start from 9.30am in the town centre and a special Prestwick Promenade 100 Parade will lead the way to the seafront at lunchtime for an afternoon of nostalgic, family, seaside fun. The Maclaurin Galleries are closed to the public during November and December for essential rewiring of the exhibition spaces. Rozelle House will be open during these months, closing to the public for the Christmas and New Year period from 24th December 2010, and reopening on 5th January 2011.
